About
![]() Photography has been my passion from a very early age, my father is to blame and for that I thank him He bought me my first camera and taught me everything about processing and developing and at 12 I had a darkroom below the stairs. With my love of walking and climbing landscape has dominated most of my work and living within easy reach of the Southern Highlands and the Borders gives me many opportunities to chase and try and capture the elusive but all important unique Scottish light. I have been a Nikon user since 1976, when I was given the use of a Nikon F2 with photomic head during a residential photographic course at St Andrews university. I still have that first Nikon camera and It still works perfectly. I have been published in a number of national photography magazines including Digital SLR user, Photography Monthly, Practical Photography and Golf International. I have also had commissioned work and sold images to various companies for publicity and new web sites. In late 2004 I went fully digital, the latest DSLR's are amazing Instruments giving superb quality Images. The clarity, colours and resolution from the Nikon D300 is far better than 35mm film. And It is wonderful having full control over the processing of the images to bring out the best possible quality. I use Nikon NX2 software to convert the raw images for ultimate quality, then into photoshop CS4 for any final tweaks. It really is exciting times for Digital photography.
