About

Photography has been my passion from a very early age, my father bought
me my first camera and taught me everything about processing and developing and at 12 I had a darkroom below the stairs.
My love of walking and climbing landscape has dominated most of my work and living within easy reach of the Southern Highlands and the Borders gives me many opportunities to chase and try and capture the elusive but all-important unique Scottish light.
I have been a Nikon user for many years since I was given the use of a Nikon F2 with photomic head during a residential photographic course at St Andrew's University. I still have my first Nikon camera an F2 and It still works perfectly.
I have been published in several national photography magazines including Digital SLR User, Photography Monthly, Practical Photography, Outdoor Photography, N magazine the new Nikon magazine, Scottish Field, Landscape Photography Magazine, and Golf International. I also have regular commissioned work and sell images to various companies for publicity and new websites. I also exhibit in several venues and galleries throughout Ayrshire.
In late 2004 I went fully digital, the latest DSLRs and Mirrorless cameras are amazing Instruments giving superb quality Images. The Nikon cameras and lenses' clarity, colours, and resolution are outstanding.
It is wonderful having full control over the processing of the images to bring out the best possible quality.
I use Photoshop CC 2024 software to convert the raw images for ultimate quality into my favourite plugins, Nik Complete and Luminar Neo, for any final tweaks. It is an exciting time for Digital photography.
